BBLex The Bodybuilders Dictionary
Good Body Proportions for Bodybuilder
How does it work?
Most easy. Write your height and your weight target (not the actual one) into the input fields above and press the Calculate button. You will get a table with recommended values for your entries with both, metric and anglic measurements. You may mix metric and anglic values in the input; e.g. weight in pound and height in centimeter. In case you give both inches and centimeters (or kilogramm and pound) this calulator will use the metric values. All results are circumferrences.
This calculation is made for men with 10% bodyfat and bases upon the relations of bodyparts as used in arts for sculpturing well formed athletes. The results are recommendations. They are not the only possibility to look good.
Where are the calculated locations?
- Neck: Wrap the measure band loose around the neck and close it at the sternums upper start.
- Biceps: Biggest surrounding, flexed. Of course.
- Forearm: Biggest surrounding, wich is around 1/3 way down from ellbow to wrist. Flexed.
- Chest: Horizontal, over the nippels. Calculated as fully inspirated (to prevent cheating...)
- Waist: Horizontal, at the navel level. This is not the smallest cicumferrence! Expirated.
- Hip: Horizontal, over the the hip joints. Please do this from the side, not frontal: you automatically would give to much room to the genitalia closeby. Flexed muscles.
- Thigh: At the biggest circumferrence, some 1/3 way down from hip joint to knee. Same problem as with the hip measurement, so please read from the side. Flexed.
- Calf: Biggest surrounding, again. And flexed, of course.
